Main Article Content
Abstract
The research investigates the prevalence of fake news, which has become a global issue from an Islamic perspective. The rapid dissemination of news, regardless of its veracity, has been facilitated by the exponential growth of smartphone consumers with internet access. The rate at which information travels has been greatly boosted by social media and instant messaging apps like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp. As a result, false news can spread globally in a matter of seconds, especially through instant messaging platforms like WhatsApp. In addition to text, users of smartphones may now quickly send and receive audio and video messages via social media and instant messengers. However, both may be used efficiently to spread lies with serious consequences for society. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the public's knowledge and perception of WhatsApp-spread false news. The Ishikawa diagram is used to analyse the problem and brainstorm ways to fix it on social media and messaging apps.
