Special Issue : Islam And Technology
The Journal of Islamic Knowledge (JIK) is pleased to announce a call for papers for a special issue on Islam and Technology. This special issue aims to explore the intersection of Islam and technology, examining the various ways in which technology impacts the Muslim community and Islamic societies worldwide. We invite researchers, scholars, and practitioners to contribute their original research, theoretical papers, and case studies to enhance our understanding of this important topic.
Scope and Topics of Interest:
The special issue seeks to address the multifaceted relationship between Islam and technology from diverse perspectives. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Islamic Ethics in the Digital Age: Exploring the ethical implications of emerging technologies in relation to Islamic principles and values.
Digital Islamic Education: The use of technology in the dissemination of Islamic knowledge, online Islamic education platforms, e-learning, and digital pedagogy.
Islamic Mobile Applications: Examining the development and impact of Islamic mobile applications, their role in promoting Islamic values, education, prayer times, and Quranic studies.
Islamic Finance and Fintech: Investigating the adoption and impact of financial technology (fintech) in Islamic banking, Islamic microfinance, crowdfunding, blockchain, and smart contracts.
Digital Islamic Media and Communication: Analyzing the influence of digital media on Islamic communication, social media platforms, digital activism, and the representation of Islam in the digital space.
Artificial Intelligence and Islamic Applications: Exploring the ethical considerations and challenges of AI technologies in Islamic contexts, such as AI in Islamic legal reasoning, language processing, and Islamic chatbots.
Islam and Cybersecurity: Examining the implications of technology on Islamic cybersecurity, privacy, data protection, and digital trust.
Submission Guidelines:
Manuscripts submitted for this special issue should adhere to the Journal of Islamic Knowledge’s guidelines. All papers must be written in English and should be original, unpublished work. Manuscripts will undergo a blind peer-review process to ensure high academic standards and quality.

Submission Deadline: 30 September 2024
Review and Feedback: 30 October 2024
Final Manuscript Due: 30 December 2024
Expected Publication: February 2025
